A NDT Inspection on gas turbine wheel was carried out during machine maintenance service.
Inspection type: Visual inspection + Magnetic particle inspection
Corrosion pitting phenomena were detected in the wheel shank.
Due to the severity of the damage and relevant risks for the safety of the turbine, it was recommended to the Customer rejecting the wheel and installing a new one.
